Ohio changes medical marijuana dispensary distribution: Lake, Geauga and Portage counties.

June 2017: 

  • It is still not legal to buy medical marijuana in the state of Ohio.  Physicians cannot yet become certified to recommend MMJ for patients.  The licenses to cultivate, process, test, and dispense have not been awarded.  State officials are still claiming that dispensaries will open by 09/08/2018.
  • No patient ID cards are being issued by Ohio's Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP).  The ID cards will be issued only by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy.  Ohio has a deadline for the patient registry to become available by September 2018.

​On Monday, August 14, the Ohio Department of Commerce, State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and State Medical Board of Ohio final filed all remaining rules related to the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program. The rules will be effective September 8, 2017 and can be found in the Register of Ohio and on the MMCP website.
